Weapons and Traffic by the State is a documentary that follows Amnesty International as they monitor, research, analyse and expose how arms transfers fuel violence and human rights abuse. The film includes analysis of the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo where interlocking conflicts have resulted in widespread human rights violations including killings, mass rape and the use of child soldiers.

Collective Shout is a grassroots campaigning movement against the objectification of women and sexualisation of girls in media, advertising and popular culture. They're about to have their first SA gathering of 2012 which will include celebrating the achievements of 2011, sharing plans for the year ahead and introducing the new regional co-ordinators for SA.

The ABC has posted a really interesting interview with Alain de Botton.
Alain is an atheist but he's not about to throw out the baby with the bathwater so to speak. In this interview he discusses what he thinks religion has to teach anyone about life, whether they believe in God or not. Scheduling space to interact with larger ideas and spending time feeling small through experiencing awe are a couple of examples of where he sees value for all.

Wednesday night's chalk walk feast was a success!
On Sunday we're going to be getting out and about and showing Adelaide some more Love with chalk as our medium. Bring an umbrella and a stroller (if the kids need it) and get along.
For those not up to getting out, there will also be a some reflection exercises at the base.

This week marks Ruthmary Bond's first with CitySoul as our new minister.
Ruthmary (or 'RM' as she prefers to be known) comes into the role with great energy and enthusiasm. She'll be working with us 1/2 time and continuing her 1/2 time role with the Synod (think of it as the Uniting Church state office) in Fresh Expressions.
